Discussion polls#

When starting a discussion, select Add a poll, enter a question and at least two different options. More options provides up to ten choices. Questions and choices are plain text. Closing times are entered and displayed in UTC; convert your local time before entering a deadline. A deadline must be in the future and closes voting automatically without a scheduled job.

Verified members who can read and reply in the current forum can choose one option. Votes are final. Voting does not bump the discussion or send reply notifications. Results stay hidden until you vote or the poll closes; after closure, anyone who can read the discussion can see aggregate counts and percentages.

Voter names are never displayed publicly. Account identifiers remain stored internally to enforce one vote per account; this is not anonymous storage or a secret ballot.

Before the first vote, the discussion author with permission to edit their posts, or a moderator for the current forum, may edit the question, choices and deadline. Authors cannot edit a locked discussion. After voting starts these fields cannot change. The author or moderator can close early; closing reveals results and cannot be undone.

Locking a discussion suspends voting without closing the poll or revealing results. Unlocking resumes voting only if the poll is still open. Deleting a discussion hides its poll; restoration retains votes and the original deadline. Moving a discussion applies the destination forum's permissions immediately.

Polls are attached only when creating a discussion. There is no adding a poll later, multiple selection, vote replacement, reset, reopening, or public voter list.
