Open beta Version 1.8.0-beta.1

The open beta, plainly.

Anyone can install VoltexaHub today and start a real community on it. Here's what that gets you, what's still rough, and what comes next.

What you get

The full forum, not a preview. Everything on the features page ships in 1.8.0-beta.1.

  • Discussions, messages, polls, reputation, search and notifications
  • Permissions, moderation, registration rules and email setup
  • Memberships and donations through your own Stripe or PayPal account
  • Themes and plugins on a documented extension API
  • The installer, nightly backups, restore and updates that roll back

What "beta" means

The core is complete and tested, but it hasn't yet run many communities in the wild. So:

  • You may hit bugs. Report them and they get priority.
  • The theme and plugin API may change before 1.0, with notice in the release notes.
  • VoltexaHub runs on a single server. It's not built for clustering yet.
  • Keep the nightly backups, and copy them off the server.

What comes next

Roughly in order. Plans can change with beta feedback, and nothing here has a promised date.

  • In progress
Import from MyBBUsers, forums, discussions, posts and permissions, tested against real MyBB installs. Attachments and old-URL redirects follow.
  • Planned
Import from phpBBThe second importer, built on the same framework.
  • Planned
ARM imagesFor ARM VPS plans and single-board servers.
  • Planned
Social loginSign in with an existing account from another service.
  • Later
Managed hostingFor people who want VoltexaHub without running a server. Self-hosting stays free.
