Posting and attachments#
Members need verification and the relevant forum capabilities to create discussions, reply or edit. The editor supports Markdown preview and authorized file attachments. Files are served through permission-checked routes, not direct storage URLs. Search results, activity and attachment access follow current forum visibility.

Polls#
Add a poll while composing a discussion: a question, two to ten distinct choices and optional UTC closing time. Eligible members vote on an open poll in an unlocked discussion with reply permission. Poll management depends on ownership/edit permission or moderation access. Closing is irreversible; rehearse a draft/test poll before closing a live one. See poll reference for visibility and edit constraints.
Watches and notifications#
Members can watch discussions and separately opt into email. In-app notifications and counts are viewer-scoped. The worker must run for watched-reply mail; check the unsubscribe and discussion links in an end-to-end test.
Private messaging#
Members use Messages for direct or group conversations. Groups support owner-controlled membership and names; new or rejoining members see future history only. Departing members lose access. Blocking and reporting support abuse handling. Automatic refresh pauses while hidden; manual forms remain usable without JavaScript. See messaging reference.
Votes and reputation#
Community settings → Votes & reputation enables/disables presentation and voting without deleting the ledger. Forum/group post.vote permission is separate from viewing. Members may vote positively, negatively or undo their vote. Moderator vote resets require a reason and confirmation. Reputation reflects posts visible to the viewer and excludes deleted content and banned voters; it is not an unrestricted global total. See reputation reference.
